Rebecca H. Gomis is a Costa Rican-born visual artist whose work explores the individual's relationship with the natural world while also questioning our place as humans in relation to nature.

 

This exhibition includes photographs of people and the environment taken in Costa Rica between 2021 and 2023 on two separate trips. Rebecca's visits to the tropical latitudes renew her timeless and strong bond with a familiar but still powerful space and beings. Her affection and closeness to the non-human elements motivated her to take on this project. Rebecca's work maintains this closeness and intimacy by emphasizing details and close-ups. Each photograph is a component of a larger whole, a reminder of the interconnectedness and fragility of the dominant and mystical nature.
