​Gelatine wurde für Susanne Kunjappu-Jellinek zum Ausgangspunkt für eine künstlerische Auseinandersetzung mit den Grundlagen von Kunst und Essen, ihren oft verborgenen Zutaten und den mitunter unerwarteten Wechselwirkungen zwischen Material, Herstellung, Zubereitung und Präsentation. In spektakulär inszenierten Fotos präsentiert die Ausstellung ästhetisch ansprechende und niedlich wirkende 'Gummibärchen' in ihren
leuchtenden Farben, die in keiner Weise erkennen lassen, dass Schlachtabfälle der Rohstoff für ihre Herstellung sind.

 

Gelatin became the substance that brought artist Susanne Kunjappu-Jellinek to her artistic exploration into what makes art and what makes food, their often hidden ingredients, their waste products, and the perhaps unexpected interrelations between materials, techniques, practices of preparation and display. In spectacularly staged photos, the exhibit ion presents aesthetically pleasing and cute-looking "gummy bears" in their bright colors without any indication at all that slaughterhouse waste is the raw material used in their production.​
