LiTE-HAUS hosts an intensive artist residency program for artists to expand and improve their practice in a serene and professional environment in the heart of Berlin's vibrant art scene - Neukölln. The program includes work stations, guidance, development, collaboration, critique, insight into the inner workings of a culture space, and working directly with the program team leaders.
We selected two artists from the USA for the program - from opposite coasts - who work in completely different mediums. We look forward to their development. The new artworks will be presented at the end of the residency in a short exhibition open to the public.
Melissa Gaitan (mixed media collage)
Christopher Stewart (oil painting)

CALIFORNIA, USA "I am an oil painter that draws on my surroundings, everchanging personal interests, and Mexican heritage to inform my work. More recent themes in my work include studying the body in various states of being. Capturing the subtle differences between relaxation and exhaustion, or the similarities between being in a state of frustration and hopelessness."

"I use painting to unearth memories, reflections, and questions that are both deeply personal to me and universally understood, all while never leaving behind my pursuit of artistic excellence."

"I approach collage as both a personal archive and a form of self-portraiture, each piece functioning like a journal entry that preserves fleeting emotions, cultural references, and memory. Through this process, I continually examine how femininity, desire, and media imagery intersect to shape personal identity, and how we come to understand ourselves within a constructed world."
