LiTE-HAUS welcomes Berlin artist Marius Heckmann's provocative paintings. A dog with a man, the phantom of a vagina, dogs copulating unrestrained, and the image of a shark in the deep cold ocean. Our thinking is full of animal metaphors; of parts of our consciousness or subconscious projected on them. In them, our animal heritage appears as a "​h​uman ​a​nimal". Our concept of ourselves is separated from nature, to be superior to ​it, to dominate ​it. However, closer inspection shows cracks in these perceptions.

For his work, Marius Heckmann often uses parts of collective imagery as they are found everywhere, in advertising, on the Internet, etcetera.

Kälte im Bild eines Hais. Eine riesige Fliege in Verbindung mit einem Heidi-Comic. Unser Denken ist voll von Tiermetaphern, von auf sie projizierten 

Teilen unseres Bewusstseins bzw. Unterbewusstseins. In ihnen scheint unser animalisches Erbe als „Human Animal“ durch. Unsere Vorstellung von 

uns selbst als von der Natur getrennt, ihr überlegen, sie beherrschend bekommt an diesen Stellen bei näherem Hinsehen Risse.

Marius Heckmann benutzt für seine Arbeit oft Teile der kollektiven Bilderinnerung, wie sie überall, in der Werbung, im Internet etc., zu finden sind.
